Building a sustainable future

Sustainability

At Thomas Sinden sustainability is central to the way we do business.  Whilst ‘green construction methods’ are an important factor in our sustainability agenda we recognise that the social and economic impact of what we do is as important as the effect we have on the environment.  We actively seek to support and develop the communities within which we work as part of our commitment to corporate social responsibility.

Environment

Construction projects inevitably have an impact on the environment, but as custodians of the environment for future generations we work hard to minimise our own environmental footprint.  We focus not only on what we deliver, but how we deliver it, through minimising waste, recycling, responsible procurement and use of tools such as BREEAM to support our customers in making their projects environmentally sustainable.

Carbon Neutral Initiatives

Thomas Sinden operates to an integrated Net Zero Strategy; used to drive down our carbon footprint, both whilst delivering on client projects and through our daily operations. In following our own target to achieve Net Zero by 2040 across all three scopes, we have rapidly implemented carbon cutting initiatives across our delivery programmes. Health and safety

Whilst we are proud of our excellent record on health and safety, our ethos is that no matter how good we are there is always an opportunity to improve our performance.  Our dedicated team of health and safety managers regularly visit our sites to monitor compliance, but also to advise, encourage and engage with our project management teams to get their feedback on how we could do better.

Equal opportunities

Our people set us apart from our competitors.  We actively recruit and retain the most talented people irrespective of their culture, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, religion or beliefs.  A diverse workforce makes our team stronger and better equipped to respond to the demands of our customers.  People do their best work when they are valued for who they are and we invest heavily in training and development to support all our staff to be the very best they can be. Quality management

We are proud of our reputation for consistently delivering a high standard.  Passion for quality is one of the key reasons why so much of our business is through repeat customers.  Our philosophy on quality is to get it right first time, every time, and that is reflected in the awards we have won for our work, including the RIBA London Building of the Year Award, an award given to buildings that ‘demonstrate exceptional quality and distinction’.

Modern Slavery Act

We are dedicated to the highest possible level of professional standards and ethical values.  Implicit within this is a commitment to ensure all employees, subcontractors and labour only staff adhere to the fundamental principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.  To view our policy click here.
