Refurbishment and reconfiguration of bedrooms and communal areas at Therese House, purpose built student accommodation situated in Barbican, London.

We were appointed to undertake a full and extensive refurbishment programme, increasing the number of beds to 250 from the existing 247 beds. This was achieved by the conversion of some existing cluster flats to studios and two-dios. With the majority of accessible studios converted to premium studios. All other studios, bedrooms and kitchens were redecorated and refurbished with new furniture and fittings.

We were required to set a workmanship benchmark to assist the review of the finished product so we completed one studio within 4 weeks as a sample of the standard of workmanship and the quality of materials. This Studio also served as a marketing suite for the Employer.

The key challenge faced by our site team was meeting the strict completion deadline.  With Students, due to take up residence prior to the academic year, the construction was highly time sensitive, with any delays having the potential to cause enormous disruptions.  Our team worked tirelessly to ensure successful handover.
