The Altitude
Re-cladding Scheme
The Altitude development, consists of two residential blocks, with a commercial unit at the ground floor, located on a primary road linking Bournemouth and Poole.
The original external facades, consisting of render, zinc cladding, and timber-decked balconies, required replacement due to fire safety concerns. Altitude Management appointed Thomas Sinden to undertake the necessary remediation work, this includes removing existing cladding, render, insulation, CP board, and timber balconies, and replacing them with new fire-rated materials.
The building is a ‘high risk building’ (“HRB”) as defined under the Building Safety Act 2022. The project is funded through the Government BSF fund and carried out under a JCT contract with Contractor’s Design.
This project has presented some logistical challenges, a temporary road closure was required to enable a large crane to remove a large metal Brise Soleil (to be reinstated at a later date). An oversail agreement has also had to be put in place.
