Thomas Sinden were appointed to deliver the refurbishment, restoration, and alteration of the Grade II listed Brook Theatre in Medway.
This extensive refurbishment will modernise the building, enhance accessibility, and preserve its historic charm, ensuring it continues to serve future generations. Works include:-
–Improved access across the building for thepublic, performers, and staff, including newdisabled access at the entrance of the theatreand to seating within the theatre.
–New staging, lighting, and sound and digitalequipment
–Upgraded office and meeting rooms
–Upgraded rehearsal, workshop, and dancestudio spaces
–Improved dressing rooms for performers
–New digital equipment and resourcesto support the creation of contemporaryperformance
–Refurbishing the main theatre includingfoyer and studio performance spaces
–New toilets and hand washing facilities
–Beautifully restored historic interiors that run throughout the theatre
The project is being delivered thanks to a number of funding programmes, including £6.5 million from the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund and £300,000 from the Future High Streets Fund, with Medway Council also contributing over £10 million to deliver the improvement works.
