Work has started on site to build four new family homes on Woodbank Road in Downham in the London Borough of Lewisham for Phoenix Community Housing.

Previously, a terrace of four homes stood on the site before being demolished in the 1980s. Funding from the Mayor of London and Lewisham Council has enabled the two and three bedroom homes for affordable rent to be built, which will be available in late 2019.

Phoenix tenant and Vice-Chair Carmen Simpson visited the site to see the start of works, with Chief Executive of Phoenix, Jim Ripley and Paul Cooke, Business Development Director of Thomas Sinden.

Paul Cooke, Business Development Director of Thomas Sinden said: “We are delighted to have been appointed by Phoenix Community Housing as contractor to build four new homes for affordable rent at Woodbank Road.  We look forward to transforming this site into much needed affordable homes for the area”.
