As part of Waltham Forest Council’s Basic Need Secondary Expansion Programme, Thomas Sinden has been awarded the contract to develop Kelmscott Secondary School in Walthamstow, E17.

The phased works will include an extension to provide increased dining space, an activity studio and related toilet facilities, storage and circulation. Alterations will also be made to the existing school providing a science lab, new computer studies lab, graphics and product design studio, office, adjacent circulation area, and staff preparation space.

We look forward to working closely with the local authority and school to create a new space that will inspire and support the learning of all the pupils and staff for years to come. “

Hard and soft landscaping is also included in the plans at Kelmscott School with new paving and planting around the new block and extension as well as providing an extra 46 cycle parking spaces.

As part of the Council’s commitment to tackling the Climate Emergency blue/green roofs are on both buildings to provide an area of native plant species to support pollinators and help improve air quality as well as helping with rain water storage.
