Thomas Sinden recently marked the topping out of our new residential development, in the London Borough of Southwark, where our Team are delivering 62 new affordable homes for Peabody.

The former workhouse, infirmary and hospital site, dating back to 1746, is now being transformed into 14 homes for social rent and 48 for shared ownership, featuring a range of one-, two-, and three-bedroom family homes.

Ryan Newman, Thomas Sinden Project Manager, presented Peabody Executive Director, Philip Jenkins, with a ceremonial trowel and invited him to place the last section of concrete at the top of the structural frame.

The event was made even more memorable thanks to the involvement of Bermondsey Community Kitchen, a local charity, which provided refreshments. It presented an ideal opportunity for Thomas Sinden employees Adnan Ako and James Strachan to present the charity with a cheque in the sum of £6109 raised by running in the London Marathon.

Addressing the occasion, Matt Ayers, Construction Director, said “We were delighted to be joined by Southwark Councillor Naima Ali, Deputy Mayor of Southwark, alongside guests from Peabody, LB Southwark, Calfordseaden, ENG Design, Glanville Group, Socotec Fire and our supply chain partners including Carty Forde and DWG. We’re incredibly proud to be part of a project that not only delivers much-needed housing but also engages with and supports the local community. We look forward to continuing this journey, as we work towards completing this vital development.
