Thomas Sinden were appointed to deliver the construction of a bespoke vehicle repair workshop in West Thurrock for Spectrum VR, a leader in the maintenance and repair of commercial vehicle body shells.

Works involved the demolition of existing HGV service and repair workshop on the site with a new 1,726 sq.m 7-bay purpose-built facility to accommodate Spectrum VR’s expanding operations andoffer them a more visible presence on a busy intersection within the London commuter belt. We worked with Urban Edge Architects, to develop an initial feasibility concept, rationalising the layouts and ensuring the spaces were the best options for the required functions.

The main workshop contains a paint centre with bespoke specialist equipment installations, including a paint oven, for the repair and painting of vehicles. An attached two storey office block houses day-to-day operations, seminar and training rooms, as well as wellness spaces for Spectrum VR staff.

‘QUALITY OF WORKMANSHIP HAS BEEN EXCELLENT’
“From the very outset we found Thomas Sinden to be extremely helpful & professional in every aspect, buildings are not our speciality and to have someone to guide us through the process from initial outline design, through planning application and then to construction and delivery of the project was invaluable.
Throughout the building the quality of design, materials, finishes and workmanship has been excellent and has ensured a superb looking finished project.

I don’t think I could express how easy Thomas Sinden’s staff are to work with, again from the outset the enthusiasm, attention to detail and willingness to meet at anytime either on-site or at their offices to discuss any detail, however small, helped put our minds at rest and ensure that the whole journey was as smooth as I think anyone could ask, their site manager on our project, Glen is a credit to you.”

Awards: The scheme was awarded a 2025 ‘Considerate Constructor Bronze Award’.
