Thomas Sinden were appointed as Principal Contractor to undertake the construction of a new three storey steel framed cycle centre for Southern Railway at Grade II* listed Brighton Railway Station.

Facilities include parking for 500 cycles, a cycle hire and repair shop, a lift and a café/meeting area with a terraced seating area.

The building is fully sustainable, using a water catchment system for storing rain water for the toilets, a living green roof, energy efficient LED lighting, air source heat pump renewable energy, including heat recovery units and glass curtain walling.

The site was complex due to its position at the top of the existing railway retaining wall and its sloping topography.  Extensive consultation took place with the planning officer, conservation and transport team, as the building sits in a prominent position in the setting of the listed building.
